New Canaan Mounted Troop (NCMT) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization devoted to building leadership, responsibility and confidence through sound horsemanship. Founded in 1939 by Margaret Cabell Self, noted horsewoman, author and educator, NCMT remains the last unit of the Junior Cavalry of America. The Cadet Program at NCMT offers extensive instruction regardless of age or rider’s ability. Besides riding, students learn the ins and outs of stable managements and safety, as well as the complete care of horse and tack.
